Wunderlich Lean Angle Indicator for Original BMW Enduro Footrests R1300 GS Adventure - Set - stainless steel

Wunderlich Lean Angle Indicators: More active riding safety, confidence and a sense of security thanks to early feedback before reaching the limit when cornering

Function and product features

  • Bikes are often designed so that – when an engine protection bar is fitted – the footrest and the protection bar touch down almost simultaneously in a lean, which is uncritical in terms of tyre grip
  • For riders who, despite having folding footrests, want a reliable early warning before reaching the limit when cornering, we have developed our lean angle indicators – equally suitable for beginners and experienced riders
  • The optimised feedback provides greater reserves when cornering and increases active riding safety
  • The indicators trigger a tactile stimulus on the foot with less lean angle, signalling the limit much earlier – especially when the bike is loaded or when riding through dips or potholes
  • They gently and calmly convey that there are still sufficient reserves before the limit
  • They reduce the fear of being levered off and thus strengthen confidence and the feeling of security
  • Our purely mechanical solution works under all conditions
  • The indicator is designed to offer little resistance and to provide sensitive, perfect and safe feedback
  • Installation is simple – the lean angle indicators are simply bolted to the outside of the original BMW Enduro footrests
  • The lean angle indicators enhance a relaxed riding experience and active safety in road traffic

Wunderlich lean angle indicators provide reserves and thus ensure a much more relaxed riding experience

Many of us, who do not constantly ride at the limit, find the first contact of the footrest with the road surface when cornering on a new bike unpleasant. The deep-seated fear of being levered off frightens quite a few. As a result, the bike is instinctively straightened – even though this is not yet necessary. However, this increases the cornering radius and can lead to dangerous situations. This should be avoided.

In fact, footrest contact is generally harmless, as modern bikes have folding rests to prevent levering off.

Bikes are often designed so that – when an engine protection bar is fitted – the footrest and the bar touch down almost simultaneously at a lean angle that is uncritical in terms of tyre grip. It is important to be aware that various factors – such as the load on the bike or riding through a dip or pothole – can reduce the available lean angle.

For riders who want more reserves when approaching the tarmac, we have developed our lean angle indicators, which can be easily bolted to the outside of the original BMW Enduro footrests.

With lean angle indicators fitted, the footrests provide a tactile stimulus on the foot at a much smaller lean angle. This feedback announces and makes the limit perceptible much earlier. It gently and calmly shows that there is still sufficient reserve before the limit and that you are not yet “at the stop”. They strengthen confidence and safety.

We have designed our lean angle indicators for maximum safety. They require no power connection and no displays that could fail. Our purely mechanical solution works under all conditions. The indicator itself is designed, in terms of material choice and shape, to offer minimal resistance while providing perfect and safe feedback.

Indirectly, the lean angle indicators ensure a much more relaxed riding experience and at the same time increase your active safety in road traffic.
